Caution is necessary when cleaning boats because your choice of products and activities can have serious impacts on water quailtyand aquatic life. For example, if paint chips from a hull are not contained, they may end up in the water. Since heavy metals in the paint chips may be consumed by mussels, worms, and other bottom-dwelling creatures, the toxins in the paint can then be passed up the food chain to fish, birds, and humans. Marinas around the world are being legislated to contain waste and purify residual water resulting from the washing of boats. It is no longer acceptable, or legal to simply haul out a boat, pressure wash the hull and allow the residual water to run off. Marina operators must install a containment system, capture the residual water and waste, process it through a purification system before discharging.
Kyoto Containment Systems patented water containment and purification system provides the perfect solution. Our total system comes trailer mounted and is complete with a Kyoto Containment Mat® on a Reel System, reservoir, purification system and pressure washer. An operator simply pulls the mat off the reel, secures it at the point of haul out, sets up the submersible pump, turns on the system and begins washing. All residual water from hull washing is contained by the mat and purified before being discharged.
With this system marina operators are instantly compliant with EPA and Clean Water Act regulations.
